Mathematical Model Predicts Ethnic Violence
Our CDC collaborators (particularly physicist Yaneer Bar-Yam) at the New England Complex Systems Institute (NECSI) published an important article in Science (May Lim, Richard Metzler, and Yaneer Bar-Yam Science 14 September 2007: 1540-1544.) providing science-based policy guidance to predict, and potentially prevent ethnic violence. This is another powerful demonstration of the strength of complex systems modeling to address important health, culture, and political challenges.
